How long have you been bellydancing?
It has been a hobby since I was 18.
What inspired you to start?
A friend organized a class while I was in
college. I was hooked right from the start. I have taken breaks during
various life events, but I have always come back to bellydancing.
Describe your dance style:
I enjoy performing several genres of modern
bellydance including cabaret, medieval, and gothic. Most of my
training has been in American cabaret (i.e. a mix of styles), but with
an emphasis in Egyptian. I have also studied a little Tribal and
Turkish along the way.
Do you have any other dance or music training?
I am always expanding
my knowledge of world dances, and I have had some drumming lessons.
What do you like best about bellydancing?
I like to challenge myself
physically and creatively. I love the experience of flow and being in
the moment when I dance. I also love the community of creative people
that I have met through dancing.
Favorite costume:
I am working on an earthy tribaret costume that I am
excited about. Shiny green bedlah, Melodia's, custom fusion Ghawazi
coat, with lots of leaves and flowers.
Favorite prop: fan
Favorite song to dance to: Right now I'm liking "Aria" by Mediaeval Baebes
Do you play an Instrument: zills and a basic drumming
Dreams, goals and aspirations:
to be part of the Black Dragon troupe, of course
Favorite color:
I see so many colors as beautiful or interesting. I suppose the color-of-the-day is aubergine.
Favorite muppet: Dr. Teeth
Favorite food: Chocolate

If you could have one superhero power, what would it be?
hmm... tough to choose, but I think flying wins
